Biontech and Pfizer want to apply for approval of their vaccine for children up to the age of eleven as soon as possible. Health Minister Spahn does not expect approval until early 2022.
Biontech and Pfizer want to apply for approval of their Corona vaccine for five to eleven-year-old children as soon as possible. The vaccine has proven to be safe and effective in studies, the two pharmaceutical companies announced in Mainz on Monday after evaluating the first results of the approval study for the Comirnaty vaccine for under-twelve-year-olds.
In the study, five to eleven-year-old children were vaccinated twice at intervals of three weeks – the dose, however, was only one-third of what is vaccinated to people aged twelve and older. The study included data from almost 2,270 children in this age group.
