Deutsche Post is planning a rise in the price of letters and postcards at the end of the year. Standard letters will then cost 85 cents, while postcards will cost 70 cents.
German consumers will have to pay higher postage for letters and postcards: Sending a standard domestic letter will cost 85 cents from January, five cents more than before, Deutsche Post announced in Bonn on Wednesday.
Other letter products will also be five cents more expensive, such as the Maxi brief. Postcards will then cost 70 cents instead of the current 60 cents. The prerequisite is final approval by the regulator Bundesnetzangentur.
